Starting at a new school is exciting – enrolling in a school outside of your home country is a true adventure! When an international student comes to TransPac Aviation Academy, you are not just starting a new career, you are also gaining valuable international experience.
In addition to helping put the proper paperwork in order, TransPac assists its international students to prepare for life abroad as well.
TransPac works to ease the transition by providing help in finding housing and offering transportation to and from the academy. Student groups also organize trips to local stores and other necessities. TransPac also provides English as a Second Language education, but international students are smart to study their English prior to arriving in the States.
Practicing the language prepares you well for your international adventure. But also be sure to give yourself time to adjust to the new culture you are now living in. Enjoy new experiences like trying the local foods and activities and learning about customs and mannerism. Don’t worry if cultural mishaps or miscommunications may occur, it’s all part of the learning experience.
More in-depth information on what to expect when transitioning to U.S. culture can be found here.
Tips to ease the adjustment include staying busy, and sharing how you feel with friends, family or fellow pilot trainees.
